Officially Potty Training!!!

We had been very casually been potty training Emily the last few months. Until her little bottom fell in the water of the toilet and it scared her and then she wouldn't sit on the potty & I didn't push it anymore. However she has been showing signs of being ready to potty train ... she would tell me when she needed to poop or would hide when she was pooping, she was having dry periods during the day, and was excited about using the big potty like mommy does.

So for her birthday my parents got her a special potty that I had wanted for her for a while (I wish I didn't wait so long because they sold out of it in purple & she got stuck with the boy one) it was more practical because it has a tiny stair, handles to hold on to & a seat she can't fall through. She found it at their house & got really excited about it! We put it together at home & the next day we went shopping for potty training supplies. We got a Minnie Mouse bag (who she loves) and filled it full of Minnie stickers & snacks, we got bubbles, a potty time book & some awesome training "panties"

So the next day we made a big bed in front of the tv & watched cartoons & movies & ate junk food & drank all the fluids she could handle. We only had one accident that day & it was during lunch, so no biggy! We went to the potty every 20 minutes, she didn't always go but every time she did I made a BIG deal about it & she got a sticker & a treat. Towards the end of the day she was over sitting on the potty, so we called it quits once Dad got home.

Day 2 we had a more normal day & less fluids were pumped into her and she only went a few times in the potty and had 2 accident but was more excited about sitting on the potty this day. It was bed time and we had her dressed for bed with a diaper on and she said "potty" and ran to the bathroom & actually went so it was a HUGE success!!! This day was fun because she brought her baby doll in there with her and the baby sat on one potty and Emily sat on the other & she would tell her baby to go potty & gave her baby 2 stickers for going potty & would have her sit in the potty with her, I think it made it more fun for her!

By day 8 things are going really well. On average there is 3 accidents a day, so not bad! She has parts of the day she doesn't want to sit on the potty and cries so we just slip a diaper on and don't force it. She has had several times where she'll say "potty" and run in there and go! And we went out for dinner the other night & made it home with having no accidents!!! She loves to wear her "panties" and loves to just sit on the potty most days. It's going we'll & I'm excited that for sure when the baby is here we should have this mastered!!!
